oh nine, and feeling fine

So another year has past. Peace out 2008, what's up 2009! What a year folks, what a year indeed. 2008 was pretty sweet, I had a good time, did you? I hope so. Anyway, today was the first day back to real life of 2009. Went back to work, got back to the gym, and decided that I'm going to hop on the wagon for a while. Now while I love ice cold beers as much as the next guy, I feel that starting a new year with a nice clear head can be somewhat beneficial. I have a bunch of songs I've half assed and never finished, and I know there is always something I can be doing to help out the band, so not having the urge to just drink beer and play Xbox will be helpful.

I never really make resolutions on New Years, but I think it is just better to have motivation on things you should be doing already. Going to the gym and not boozing for a while are things I have tried in the past, but with the holidays, all that got blown to shit. But now we are in a new year, no distractions, and I can detox for a while. I've got a few shows coming up, so I'm sure I'll have a few drinks at those, but I feel like I'll still take it easy for a while. Nothing really big comin up until my friend and I go to Montreal in February, which if I make it that long, will definitely be the end of my detox. Going to Montreal for a week, I'm sure I'm going to end up slamming massive amounts of drinks in some weird Canadian bar at least one of the nights I am there.

Besides that, 2009 is looking good. Our record is FINALLY going to be done, so that's fun, lots of good shows coming up to pimp that thing around. Going to Montreal with my friend for a week, and going up to Boston around St. Patricks Day to hang out and catch a Dropkick Murphy's show or two. So far 2009 is shaping up nicely. I'm sure the lady and I will take another vacation this summer, no ideas yet but I'm sure it'll be fun, as all activities are with her. All I really hope to do in 2009 is keep my job (or a job) and get the band back across the country. Well, I'm off to finish my tea and get some sleep. Day 2 on the wagon tomorrow, we shall see how it goes.
